The Philadelphia Eagles are finalizing their draft board ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft , with the goal of adding more impact players to their 90 – man roster .

However, before looking ahead to the NFL Draft, the Eagles made a small addition to their tight end line on Thursday , which could be a mistake . According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, tight end CJ Uzomah is expected to sign a one – year deal with the Eagles .

It ‘s highly likely that Uzomah will be the Eagles ‘ replacement for Jack Stoll, who agreed to a one- year free -agent deal with the New York Giants. On paper, the signing of Uzomah appears to be an upgrade at the TE2 position for the Eagles.

However , the 31 – year – old tight end has done little over the past two years with the New York Jets . Jets fans hoped that Uzomah would be a vital part of New York ‘s offense , as he demonstrated in Cincinnati , but that did n’t happen .

During his last season with the Jets, the 6’5 ” tight end made 8 receptions (12 targets) for 58 yards and a touchdown. Uzomah’s level of performance in 2023 was very different from that observed during the vaccination campaign in 2022 , where he made 21 receptions (27 targets ) for 232 yards and two touchdowns .

Despite his recent struggles in New York, Uzomah had better stats than Stoll , who had just 20 receptions (27 targets ) for 183 yards in three seasons with the Eagles . However, Stoll was used for his blocking, which is something Uzomah will need to do this season with the Eagles.

The signing of Uzomah is not good news for the Eagles , who secured one – year flyers on Parris Campbell and DeVante Parker this winter period . Philadelphia wants Uzomah to look like the tight end we saw in Cincinnati , otherwise they ‘ll quickly go for Albert Okwuegbunam or Grant Calcaterra .
