Newcastle United have received encouragement in their pursuit of Real Sociedad star Robin Le Normand, according to Thursday’s Mundo Deportivo.
The Magpies, along with Atlético Madrid and Napoli, are interested in signing the 27-year-old.
Le Normand’s contract includes a €60 million release clause that runs until 2026, which would be a ‘deterrent’ for Diego Simeone’s side. They would give €20 million plus Javi Galán in exchange for the defender.
The centre-back joined San Sebastian on a free transfer in 2018 and has remained a regular ever since.
La Real and the centre-back are well aware that he will attract interest in the summer. Real Sociedad wants to reward him for his dedication to the club and ‘exquisite performance’ by accepting offers below his €60 million clause.
This would undoubtedly suit Newcastle, who is one of the interested parties. Earlier this month, we reported on allegations from Spain that Eddie Howe’s side is willing to give €30 million for Le Normand. It’s unclear whether that would be sufficient to sign him.
Meanwhile, the Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Newcastle are also interested in Atlético’s Mario Hermoso, whose contract expires in June.
