The Pittsburgh Steelers were expected to make a huge step forward on offence last season, as they thought that starting quarterback Kenny Pickett would develop into the guy they envisioned when they picked him with the 20th overall choice in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Unfortunately, instead of being a strength for the Steelers, the offence became the team’s biggest weakness as Pickett failed to develop into the star they hoped for under centre, leading to his trade to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL offseason and the firing of offensive coordinator Matt Canada during the regular season.

With offence being a significant worry for the Steelers coming into a critical 2024 NFL season, the organisation has gone all out in an attempt to right the ship on that side of the ball, resulting in the signing of veteran quarterback Russell Wilson and the trade for Justin Fields.

Since the offence has been the Steelers’ primary focus this summer, the team has addressed other areas for improvement, such as kicker, with the team just signing Matthew Wright for a second stint with the organisation, according to Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk.

The Steelers will bring in Wright for the fourth time after he went undrafted in 2019 and spent time in the XFL.

Wright has only missed seven field goals in his career (40-for-47), and he expects to stay in Pittsburgh for the long term this time.
