Davis went up for a putback dunk late in the first period, only for Timberwolves forward Kyle Anderson to hit him in the head in the process. The 31-year-old left to the locker room and did not return, as the Lakers, also without LeBron James, lost 127-117 at home.

In his post-game press conference, Los Angeles head coach Darvin Ham was evasive about Davis’ status, stating that there had been no updates but that it was the same eye injury sustained when the Lakers previously played the Warriors on March 16.

The two teams will face off again on Tuesday at Crypto.com Arena in a game that could decide each team’s Play-In seeding and hence their chances of making the postseason.

In other good news for the Lakers, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin said that Davis is expected to suit up for Tuesday’s game, but the hosts will not represent as much of a threat to the Warriors without the nine-time All-Star in the roster.

If Golden State wins Tuesday’s game and their remaining three regular-season games, and Los Angeles loses one of their last two, the Warriors will likely finish ninth and host the first Play-In game.
