West Ham confident £40m deal can now be done, as top target to replace Declan Rice at the London Stadium.

West Ham are confident of landing Ajax star Edson Alvarez for between £35-40million this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (21 July) that the 25-year-old has emerged as the top target to replace Declan Rice at the London Stadium.

It is believed talks are ongoing with the player’s representatives – who have indicated the 25-year-old would be interested in a Premier League move.

However, a well-placed source has revealed that West Ham are likely to face competition for the midfielder’s signature.

Alvarez was the subject of interest from Borussia Dortmund and while talks are believed to have collapsed – a deal could yet be revived in the closing stages of the summer window.
