On Tuesday, Proctor announced his decision to reenter the gateway and return to the University of Arizona. Former Alabama right lineman JC Latham verified the news on Wednesday, following the Tide’s pro day ahead of the NFL Draft.

“We’re the standard,” Latham explained. “It is not always true that the grass is greener elsewhere. So, when things happen and you believe it would be better somewhere else, you learn the hard way that it is not. “It’s spring practice in Alabama.”

Proctor earned the starting spot at Alabama as a true freshman last season. He struggled early on, but improved significantly throughout the season.

He received freshman all-SEC honours from the conference’s coaches before entering the portal and headed north. According to Latham, he had little contact with Proctor regarding the decision.

“I don’t think I have,” Latham responded. “I know we keep it casual, I slide up on his (Instagram) stories and talk to him from there, that perspective, but I haven’t really chopped it up with him as far as his decision to come back because I’ve been training.”

Latham praised Proctor’s improvement as a player during his first season in Tuscaloosa.

“Amazing amount of improvement,” Latham stated. “He was a young pup when he first came in, and his ability to adjust on the go and keep things going has improved between summer and autumn camp. I mean, if you look at the previous game and compare it to the first game, you’ll notice the improvement right away.”

Proctor is unable to re-enter the transfer portal until April 15. He will be immediately eligible upon his return.
