The Baltimore Ravens have signed former players years after they left the organization in order to bring them back together on occasio. Examples of this include former defensive stalwarts Brent Urban, Pernell McPhee, and Josh Bynes. Now, linebacker Chris Board is another player you can put on that list.

Board, who joined the Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2018, has signed with the team, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic on Tuesday night.

He recorded career-high totals in tackles for loss (two), quarterback hits (five), and sacks (2.5) during his two starts in the previous campaign. That year he also recorded his first forced fumble of his career. Board recorded 41 total tackles in 16 games in 2021.

Board joined the Detroit Lions in the 2022 summer after the organization declined to resign him. He inked a contract with the New England Patriots last year. He played for both teams in all 17 games. The former UDFA has rejoined the Ravens, where he may resume his duties as a depth inside linebacker and special teams star.

  1. The Ravens re-signed Malik Harrison but lost two linebackers in free agency, Patrick Queen and Del’Shawn Phillips. There’s a gap in that position because Phillips, a special teams ace, had a very similar job to Board’s the previous two seasons.
