Since being drafted by the Cowboys with the ninth overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft, Smith has established himself as one of the game’s premier offensive lineman. He has played in a 170 regular season and playoff games for the franchise over 13 seasons.
If Smith does decide to move on from the Cowboys, there will be no shortage of suitors for the 33-year-old lineman.
“He is going to be an extremely coveted free agent,” added Rapaport.
Cowboys fans will be disappointed to see one of their most reliable players moving on. Smith is the longest-serving member of the roster. He is an eight-time Pro Bowler and has been selected to the All Pro first-team on two occasions.
Numerous Dallas players that set to hit free agency in the coming weeks with running back Tony Pollard and cornerback Stephon Gilmore two of the bigger names on the list. Owner Jerry Jones and the front office will need to move quickly to lock up some of their stars before March 13.
