Although the Detroit Lions fell just short of making Super Bowl LVIII, the franchise should be proud of what it accomplished in 2023.
The Lions ended their decades-long playoff drought and won their first postseason game in years during the Wild Card round against the Los Angeles Rams
Detroit went on to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Divisional round before falling to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.
Although the Lions barely missed the Super Bowl, the team is set up for long-term success given the collective age and talent of the roster.
Leading the offense is star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who’s established himself as one of the best and most reliable wideouts in the NFL.
After wrapping up his third season, St. Brown joined an elite list of receivers, via PFF.
“Most receptions in first three career seasons: Justin Jefferson 324, Michael Thomas 321, Amon-Ra St. Brown, 315,” PFF tweeted.
St. Brown became the go-to receiver in Detroit’s passing game because of his ability to line up across the formation.
The former USC Trojan is best in the slot, but can line up on the outside and even take jet sweeps for rushing yards.
However, his bread and butter is working the short and intermediate areas of the field where he can use his route-running and burst to get open.
Jared Goff often leans on St. Brown any time the team needs a conversion and the latter usually delivers with a grab and extra yardage to boot.
