News Now: Nebraska Four-star CB has signed with Tennessee

Onis Konanbanny has been high on Tennessee since getting his first SEC scholarship offer more than 10 months ago from the Vols. They joined the race for him during his first trip to Knoxville in March, and he has continued to hear plenty from them since then.

Tennessee is still one of the schools recruiting him hardest. The four-star Class of 2025 cornerback from Heathwood Hall Episcopal School in Columbia, S.C., said the Vols and North Carolina have been the two teams recruiting him hardest in recent months, and he released a list of his top 10 college choices earlier this month that included Tennessee.

PITTSBORO, N.C. — It’s been a big month for Drake Powell. Earlier this week, he was named to the McDonald’s All-American game. His high school team, the Northwood Chargers, are 14-3 so far this season, including 9-0 in conference play. And Powell recorded his first career triple-double on Friday, Jan. 19 in Northwood’s win over Robbins (N.C.) North Moore.

It was an impressive and efficient statistical performance from the North Carolina signee. Powell had 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field, with 10 rebounds, 11 assists, and zero turnovers in a runaway win for Northwood, 73-24.
