In advance of the 2024–25 season, Aston Villa has become the most recent Premier League team to partner with Adidas. And they are letting go of Castore, just like Newcastle United.

After a ten-year break, Adidas will once again be the official kit partner of Newcastle this summer, the club announced in September. Amazon accidentally published the fourth episode of “We Are Newcastle United” before the team’s 1-0 loss to Manchester City on Saturday, August 19, revealing Adidas’ nostalgic comeback.

Even though the episode was removed that same day, the news had already been released two weeks ahead of schedule. It featured Pete Silverstone, the chief commercial officer, and Darren Eales, the chief executive officer, along with co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi, as well as other members of the United board.

“The club meets with Adidas to strike the biggest deal in the history of the club,” narrated Newcastle legend Alan Shearer in the video. One that, over the first five years, would be valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars. It was also characterized by Ghodoussi as “two old lovers getting back together.”

Due to their individual problems with their current kit supplier, Castore, Newcastle and Aston Villa have decided to terminate their contracts early. As the Daily Telegraph first revealed, Villa has inked a multi-million pound long-term deal to become part of Adidas’ collection.

Several of the biggest teams in the world, including Manchester United, Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, and Fulham from the Premier League, have kit deals with Adidas. Newcastle is reportedly a part of Adidas’ “elite”
