Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh has been fielding interest and interview requests from NFL teams since winning the national championship. Fresh off taking Michigan to the top of the college football world, the Wolverines’ athletic department is in a fight to keep its head coach.
Harbaugh has been one of the top head-coaching candidates for NFL teams in the last three years. He interviewed with the Minnesota Vikings in 2022 and Denver Broncos in 2023, each time turning the interest into contract extensions at Michigan.
The head coach of Michigan’s football program, who is already among the highest-paid college football coaches, is once more drawing interest from NFL teams. The University of Michigan is embroiled in a bidding war as clubs are willing to pay him anything between $15 and $20 million a season. It appears like everyone outside of Ann Arbor is betting against Michigan, even though they are confident in keeping Harbaugh.
NFL insiders Charles Robinson and Jori Epstein discussed their observations on Harbaugh’s circumstances on the most recent episode of Yahoo Sports’ Inside Coverage podcast. In particular, Robinson expressed his well-informed opinion that there is a 25 percent chance that Harbaugh will rejoin the Wolverines in 2024.
