On the day of their National League match at Eastleigh, Oldham Athletic signed Oliver Hammond from Nottingham Forest on a one-and-a-half year contract.
The Wales Under 21 midfielder, a graduate of Forest’s Academy, has nine caps for his country.
The 21-year-old moved to Hampshire alongside his new teammates and finished his move in time to be eligible for selection for Latics tomorrow.
Additionally, Hammond’s potential excites Latics manager Micky Mellon.
“We’re delighted to get another young, ambitious player,” he stated.
Oldham is a huge club which shouldn’t be in this division, I want to do my part to rectify that, and get the club back to where it belongs.
“I’m really looking forward to what the next few months and beyond have in store.
Hammond is highly-rated by Forest and has been in and around the first team since 2021, twice making the bench in the Premier League last season.
Big clubs like Oldham shouldn’t be in this tier, and I want to do my part to change that and return the team to its rightful place.
“I’m really excited about what lies ahead for the upcoming months and years to come.”
Hammond, who has been a regular in the first team since 2021 and was benched twice in the Premier League last season, is well-liked by Forest.
He began the 2023–24 season on loan at Cheltenham, where he played for the Robins for 11 games. At the conclusion of his six-month stay, he returned to the City Ground, where Latics manager Micky Mellon signed him.
