Now, Forest wants to sign Gonzalo Montiel to a long-term contract.
It seems that Forest has now taken a significant U-turn on Montiel, and his future at the City Ground may now be certain.
The player was having trouble breaking into matchday squads under Steve Cooper, and there were rumors that Montiel would be heading back to Sevilla.
Espirito Santo is reportedly impressed with the World Cup champion and wants Forest to sign him, according to Argentina La Seleccion.
Regarding the fee, an agreement has already been reached. If Forest wants to sign Montiel permanently, Sevilla will want to get about £9.5 million from Forest.
Under Espirito Santo, the player who won the Europa League the previous season has been outstanding, starting all but one of the games he has taken over and recording two assists.
Montiel’s signing makes a lot of sense.
For Forest, this seems like a no-brainer. Montiel has demonstrated that he possesses the necessary skills to be a Premier League star.
The 26-year-old Argentine looks to be flourishing in regular football conditions and is in a good age range to continue getting better.
In the Premier League, Montiel is still getting used to Forest. He’s currently working on consistency, but there has recently been ample proof of his abilities.
It’s not like a £9.4 million fee will break the bank. In light of that, it makes complete sense to finalize this agreement and open up another loan spot for the team.
It appears that Montiel has made an impression on Espirito Santo at Forest. The team now needs to honor the manager by extending his contract at City Ground.
