Another NFL announcement about Michigan has not gone well.

Four-star defensive end Christopher Burgess Jr. has four colleges left to choose from: Michigan football, Ohio State, Notre Dame football, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Ohio State Buckeyes. Decision day is quickly approaching

Burgess claimed, “They’re the ones that come see me during the open periods and are the ones recruiting me the hardest.” Burgess explained why he’s narrowed down his selection to include only the programs listed above, saying, “Those are the main four schools coming up to see me” (h/t Steve Wiltfong of 247 Sports).

33 colleges, including Colorado Buffaloes, Georgia Bulldogs, Miami Hurricanes, Michigan State Spartans, Ole Miss Rebels, Texas A&M Aggies, and Nebraska Cornhuskers, have made offers to the Chicago Michigan Wolverines Footballstandout. Michigan football is just one of those institutions.

The Wolverines are hopeful that on January 6, 2024, when the defensive end is anticipated to make his selection, Burgess will choose them. Additionally, Burgess will be playing at the All-American Bowl in San Antonio on the same day. Given the volume of universities expressing a genuine interest in Burgess, Michigan football must be optimistic about securing his commitment.

Burgess would join a Michigan defense that finished first in the 2023 college football season in scoring defense, allowing just 9.5 points per game, if he decides to attend Ann Arbor.

The Wolverines currently have 27 pledges for the 2024 season, with 18 four-stars and nine three-stars. They are in the midst of getting ready for their game against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff semifinals in the Rose Bowl.
