WHAT A SIGNING: nottingham have made an excellent trade by signing a striker

The Athletic, which has explained why a possible transfer to the City Ground did not occur, claims this.

What information has been released on Goncalo Ramos and Nottingham Forest? Let’s examine this.

Nottingham Forest received an offer. Ramos Goncalo
One of the world’s top young attackers is Goncalo Ramos, though. The Portuguese international, who made headlines by scoring a hat-trick in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, is now signed with Paris Saint-Germain.

Bastian Schweinsteiger, a veteran of Bayern Munich, called Ramos “incredible” when he joined PSG from Benfica in the summer of 2023, initially on loan. For £69.4 million, the reigning Ligue 1 winners must make it permanent (The Athletic).

Gonçalo Ramos: 'Immensely proud and very happy' | Paris Saint-Germain

According to The Athletic, Ramos might have been leading Forest at the moment. As the Reds attempted to finalize a deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers for Morgan Gibbs-White in the summer of 2022, the striker’s agent, Jorge Mendes, allegedly made an offer to Forest.

“During that identical window, he put forth a proposal that would have been, for a recently elevated team, extraordinary: the striker Goncalo Ramos, who a few months later scored a hat-trick for Portugal in the World Cup finals’ elimination round, was being offered by Benfica,” the article reads.

Mendes, who represents top Iberian talent, has always specialized in securing deals for Jose Mourinho, David de Gea, and Joao Felix. But Ramos chose to remain in his existing location, and Forest lost out on a player who subsequently signed a €80 million (£69.4 million/$88.1 million at current exchange rates) contract to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Goncalo Ramos was never expected to join Nottingham Forest.
Goncalo Ramos is not someone I believe Nottingham Forest will be able to sign. It says a lot that the striker declined the opportunity to transfer to the City Ground.

Following all, Forest had recently been promoted to the Premier League for the 2022–2023 season from the Championship. There was always the chance of being demoted, just like with every promoted side. Ramos probably realized it and made the decision to remain at Benfica.

Furthermore, Forest feels that PSG’s transfer cost for Ramos is excessive. The Reds are unable to spend more than £60 million on a single player, especially one who is only 22 years old.

This season, Ramos has made eight starts and five substitute appearances for PSG in Ligue 1. In those contests, the striker has netted three goals. This season, he has also made four substitute appearances and one start for the French club in the UEFA Champions League.
