EXCITING NEWS: Forest wide receiver was signed by Michigan as a transfer target.

The Michigan Wolverines made the announcement on Twitter on Friday morning that they had made an offer through the transfer portal to former Wake Forest wide receiver Jahmal Banks.

Banks, a former three-star talent out of St. Frances Academy in the 2020 class, has spent the previous four seasons as a member of the Demon Deacons. In his first two years of college, he only had six receptions. However, as a junior in 2022, he made tremendous progress, accounting for 42 receptions for 636 yards and nine touchdowns. He received the title of ACC All-Honorable Mention for his achievements.

Banks had an increase in receptions to 59 and receiving yards to 653 in the previous season, but he only scored four touchdowns. In the first three weeks, he scored three touchdowns.

The Wolverines are obviously pursuing a bigger-framed wide receiver out of the portal this cycle, as seen by their offer of former Indiana wide out Donaven McCulley (6-foot-5, 200 pounds), who is taller than Banks (6-foot-4, 205 pounds). This makes sense since, aside from Cornelius Johnson, who will be joining the NFL after this season, the club does not currently have a proven bigger-bodied receiver.

In addition, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, Purdue, and Notre Dame, where he will make his official visit this weekend, are all interested in recruiting Banks. The 247Sports portal rankings have him at No. 61 overall and No. 15 at wide receiver.
