The Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback Geno Smith and safety Jamal Adams are questionable after skipping practice this week in advance of a crucial Monday night matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. Due to a groin ailment, Smith missed last Sunday’s game against San Francisco. This week, he has only participated in a limited amount of practice and was given a dubious designation on Saturday. The quarterback told reporters before Friday’s practice that he would “push to play” and that getting an extra day off had helped him recover from the injury, but he was unsure about whether he planned to play. Smith stated, “It’s definitely helping.” “Every day is improving for me, and I’ve been working nonstop to attempt
Regarding Adams, the seasoned safety still has to cope with a sore knee following a torn quad tendon he sustained during the previous season. The Seahawks have been cautious with his exertion this practice week; he did not practice on Thursday or Friday. Despite this, the team still labeled him as questionable, and it is still unclear if he took part in the session on Saturday. In an interview with media on Thursday, head coach Pete Carroll praised Adams for his speedy recovery from a catastrophic injury and said he will continue to work on his conditioning and rehabilitation until the end of the 2019–20 season. Carroll said, “I think he’s done an incredible job fighting, because there was a period in the offseason when he couldn’t walk correctly.” “He persisted in pushing through it and simply ascending.”
In the event that Smith, Adams, or both are out, Seattle has been prepping quarterback Drew Lock for a second straight start during practice week. Veteran Julian Love would continue to start in the starting position in the secondary opposite Quandre Diggs. Sean Mannion, a journeyman quarterback, will probably be added to the practice squad for a second week in a row as a precaution.
Along with Smith and Adams, the Seahawks also listed rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon, receiver Dee Eskridge, and fullback/linebacker Nick Bellore as questionable for Monday’s prime time contest. Exiting in the first quarter of Seattle’s defeat in Santa Clara with a hip injury, Witherspoon didn’t practice on Thursday or Friday. But earlier in the week, Carroll insinuated that the team had optimism about him being ready to go by the weekend and whether or not he practices on Saturday could be telling about his playing status against Philadelphia. As for Eskridge, the third-year receiver has missed the past two games dealing with a rib injury and after practicing in limited fashion on Thursday, he sat out on Friday. Whether or not he’s healthy enough to play, the Seahawks could opt to roll with Dareke Young as the fifth receiver instead as they did a week ago.
Bellore, showing off his sense of humor once more, informed reporters on Friday that he would “be fine” and ready to play on Monday night despite suffering from a knee ailment. “I’m merely an elderly man. I believe they need to get me a rascal to help me navigate the facility.
