Haynes, who was ranked in the 247 Sports composite rankings as one of the 200 best high school prospects in the country in the Class of 2023, played four games for the Bulldogs as a true freshman, catching one pass for 20 yards.
Listed at 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds, Haynes was ranked as the No. 2 player in Pennsylvania and the No. 27 wide receiver in the country in those rankings. He played high school football for North Penn High School in Towamencin Township, Pennsylvania.
Haynes had verbally committed to both Rutgers and Penn State at points in his recruitement before heading to Georgia. He also had offers from Mississippi and Maryland.
Syracuse will certainly looking to upgrade its receiving group from last year, when injuries to Oronde Gadsden II, Isaiah Jones and Trebor Pena doomed its pass game. Jones entered his name into the transfer portal on Tuesday night
Syracuse coach Fran Brown came to Syracuse from Georgia and would have substantial knowledge of players on the Georgia roster and how they could help him.
Syracuse’s first transfer commitment this offseason was also a Georgia wide receiver. Jackson Meeks committed to the Orange on Tuesday.
