Eagles’ head of security Dom DiSandro not allowed on sidelines vs. Cowboys; 49ers LB Dre Greenlaw to be fined

As a result of a Week 13 altercation with 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw, Philadelphia Eagles chief security officer Dom DiSandro will not be allowed on the sidelines for Sunday night’s road game against the Dallas Cowboys, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Saturday.

DiSandro will be permitted to complete all his customary tasks at AT&T Stadium, but he will be unable to play on Sunday night, according to Rapoport and Pelissero.

According to Rapoport and Pelissero, DiSandro met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Executive Vice President of Football Operations Troy Vincent, and Eagles executives at the league headquarters on Friday.

“This is an ongoing conversation with the NFL, and we are going to respect the restriction that is currently in place,” the Eagles stated in a statement. “Although Dom will not be on the sideline this Sunday, he will continue to fulfill his role with the team in all other capacities.”

Last Sunday’s sideline brawl happened in the third quarter, near where DiSandro was standing on the Philadelphia sideline, after Greenlaw tackled Eagles wide receiver Devonta Smith. Off the field, DiSandro appeared to separate the players as they rose to their feet, touching the 49ers LB in the process. Greenlaw then reached above a developing scuffle between players to make a closed fist contact with DiSandro’s face.

Following the fight, game officials dismissed Greenlaw and asked DiSandro to leave the field. Greenlaw was also called for unnecessary roughness throughout the game.

According to Rapoport and Pelissero, the NFL is still deciding on Greenlaw’s punishment. Greenlaw, who will play against the Seattle Seahawks at home on Sunday, is anticipated to be punished on Saturday for the hit on Smith but not for the rest of the altercation, according to Pelissero.

On Wednesday, the league circulated a letter to all teams emphasizing that all game-day personnel must understand their jobs and refrain from becoming involved in any game altercations or making physical contact with another team’s player.
