After their bye week, the Las Vegas Raiders aim to fight for the postseason in their final five games of the 2023 campaign. The Raiders are still in the hunt even if their record is 5-7, but they will have to play their best football in the final few games if they hope to return to the postseason. The Raiders will need to rely on their finest players to do it on both ends of the ball. To establish the run is part of the offensive game, and the Raiders are fortunate to have Josh Jacobs, one of the finest running backs in the league, at their disposal.

On his podcast, The Rush with Maxx Crosby, Maxx Crosby spoke with defensive end Maxx Crosby on what the Raiders need to accomplish in their final five games to qualify for the postseason. “We need to focus as a team and know what we want. We also need to be hungry and have the mindset that we won’t give up,” he stated. “It doesn’t matter who we’re playing or who is standing by me. When I’m on the field, my mind is constantly focused on my game. No matter how I finished or what my stats were, I always judge myself based on how well I performed in my one-on-one matchup. I aim to win every time.

“I think there are already enough guys with that mindset in the group, but there are also some guys who are kind of on the verge of breaking; you kind of have to believe it to see it.” The coaches must also put us in the greatest possible position to win, which I believe they have been doing, but they must also just let us be who we are. I think that’s the biggest part, but we still need to get those folks more on board. Permit us to take full advantage of our strengths and let us—even our shortcomings—be in that circumstance somewhat less frequently than the norm.

Jacobs said that the squad has adopted the proper mentality under interim head coach Antonio Pierce, and if everyone can buy in, the team will be competitive come January. You can find the entire podcast episode and Jacobs’s in-depth interview here.
