Trevor Lawrence, a former quarterback for Clemson, has guided the Jacksonville Jaguars to an 8-4 record. Regretfully, Lawrence—the former first overall pick—was injured during his team’s Monday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals. With little under six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter and the score tied at 28, Lawrence was attempting to make a huge third down throw. Trey Hendrickson, the edge rusher for the Bengals, made a bull rush up the field, and as he fell back, he was unintentionally stomped on by his own offensive lineman.

Lawrence made an attempt to stand, but he instantly collapsed back down, obviously frustrated and in pain. Lawrence’s opponent, Hendrickson, even got down on his knees and prayed for him, realizing that his night was probably over.

But there is good news. The quarterback reportedly only has a high ankle sprain, which can be somewhat crippling, but it doesn’t seem like Lawrence’s season will end as a result of this injury, according to reports on Tuesday. It’s unclear how he will feel going into this week’s game against the Cleveland Browns. Unfortunately, Jacksonville’s season ended in overtime as they lost to the Bengals despite the absence of their key player, dropping them to 8-4 overall. This Sunday, they’ll have to travel to Cleveland and proceed with backup CJ Beathard as the probable starter.
