Bad News on top bad news: Philadelphia Eagles announce

So, despite being officially ruled doubtful to play, will Dallas Goedert suit up against the San Francisco 49ers?

The Philadelphia Eagles did not make any temporary practice squad elevations prior to Saturday’s 4:00 PM Eastern deadline.

The Eagles called up Noah Togiai last week to fill the third tight end spot behind Jack Stoll and Albert Okwuegbunam. There was talk that they might do that again for the 49ers game.

But perhaps they didn’t see the need for him because Goedert will be good to go?

That is not necessarily the case. It should also be noted that Grant Calcaterra is iffy (better than dubious) to play, and the lack of a Togiai promotion could mean he’ll be playing as a third tight end with Stoll and Okwuegbunam. With Goedert out, I’m guessing that will be the case.

Other than that, the Eagles did not call up another defensive tackle from the practice squad. Is this a good sign for Fletcher Cox? Perhaps not, given that they were without Milton Williams last week and did not feel compelled to promote Noah Elliss or Thomas Booker. Jordan Davis, on the other hand, lost some practice time this week due to a hamstring ailment. And he and Jalen Carter played a lot of snaps in Week 12, so having an extra DT body on the roster could’ve made sense if Cox was absolutely out.

When the Eagles and 49ers inactives are released at 2:55 p.m. on Sunday, we’ll know for sure who’s in and who’s out.
