The San Francisco 49ers announced on Saturday that they will promote two players off their practice squad ahead of Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Chris Conley and Erik Harris, both wide receivers, have been activated as normal practice squad upgrades.

Following the season-ending injury to standout Talanoa Hufanga last week against the Seattle Seahawks, the 49ers added Harris to their practice squad.

Furthermore, the 49ers lost safety George Odum to a biceps injury that will keep him out for a few weeks, further reducing their depth.

With Harris’ promotion, the 49ers will have three active safeties for Sunday’s game against Philadelphia: Tashaun Gipson, Ji’Ayir Brown, and Harris.

With the team’s depth difficulties, cornerback Isaiah Oliver stated that he would be willing to fill in at safety if needed.

“If they need that to happen, that’s something I can do,” Oliver remarked, as reported by NBC Sports Bay Area. “But hopefully we can stay healthy this week.”

The 49ers have also activated wideout Chris Conley, who might serve as insurance if Ray-Ray McCloud is unable to play. McCloud’s ribcage ailment is categorized as doubtful on the injury report.
