The Detroit Lions downgraded Alex Anzalone (hand) to OUT for their game against the New Orleans Saints on Saturday and elevated Bruce Irvin, the EDGE, and nose tackle Quinton Bohanna, the OT, as part of their final roster changes for Week 13.

Irvin has been working to get back into football form ever since he was signed to the Lions practice two weeks ago. Irvin might give the Lions some depth on the edge, as coach Dan Campbell had suggested earlier in the week that he was almost ready to play.

Every week, Campbell added, “we feel like he’s picking up speed and getting his football legs under him, and I think there’s a chance.” “I believe there’s a potential. (Overall supervisor)

Whatever his level of involvement, Irvin seems genuinely thrilled about the chance.

Irvin said to Dave Birkett of the Free Press, “Like a kid the night before Christmas.” “Man, I’m simply having fun with the process. adore participating in football. Since I’ve already made all of my money in this business, my motivation is solely my passion for the game. I consider myself really fortunate to have the chance to come out here, pursue my job, and support this city.

Bohanna has been raised in each of the two games due to his ability to have an impact on run defense. Since this is his third elevation of the season, after this one ends, he won’t have any more possibilities for roster elevation.

The Lions have rested rookie Brodric Martin twice and Levi Onwuzurike once in the last two games. Isaiah Buggs has also missed both games, once due to illness and the other as a healthy scratch. One of these three defensive tackles would probably be the comparable move to clear room on the roster if the Lions opt to sign Bohanna.

Anzalone has been unable to practice due to a hand issue that has been bothering him all week. He was downgraded to “out” on Saturday after being classified as “doubtful” on Friday. Anzalone is not going to New Orleans with the Lions, but it is probably more because of his wife Lindsey’s recent delivery of the couple’s child than it is because of his ailment.
