Tatum protested the call a lot after it was signaled for a foul, with the Celtics coaches attempting to hold him back.
Tatum accidentally struck Covington in the face with his forearm, resulting in the Celtics All-Star being called for an offensive foul.
Tatum became irate with the referees and gave them the cold shoulder while the play was being examined for what might have been a flagrant foul.

With 2.1 seconds left in the third quarter, referee Nick Buchert ejected playmaker Jayson Tatum for receiving his second technical foul. Tatum had been called for an offensive foul against 76ers forward Robert Covington, which was later upgraded to a flagrant foul 1.
Tatum and Celtics assistant coach Charles Lee both had puzzled expressions on their faces when Buchert and Phenizee Ransom simultaneously gestured to dismiss him.
“They were prepared to dismiss me,” Tatum grinned in response to the question of whether he had used profanity prior to his second technical foul.
