The Las Vegas Raiders’ head coach, Antonio Pierce, stated on Monday that safety Roderic Teamer, who was charged with DUI, had been released.
The Raiders have a history of players experiencing legal problems, and in the most recent case, safety Teamer was detained and charged with DUI.
Teamer, who was arrested on DUI charges, has been released by the Raiders, according to interim coach Antonio Pierce.
The waiver update came two days after Teamer was arrested and charged with DUI and speeding. He did not play in Week 12 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Pierce stated during his weekly press briefing on Monday,
“Yeah, it’s always difficult to let go of a player.” I’m not looking forward to the conversation. I despise it. I despise it. It isn’t good. It’s not a pleasant sensation.”
Marcus Peters, a two-time first-team All-Pro defensive back with the Raiders, also left the organization on Monday.
Teamer only competed in six games in 2023, the latest of which was on October 15th. Both Henry Ruggs and Damon Arnette had major legal issues, and Ruggs pleaded guilty in August to killing a woman and her dog while driving drunk.
Teamer was on his way to the team hotel when he was charged with DUI of alcohol and/or controlled or forbidden substance, as well as a basic speeding offense — 21-30.
He also received a four-game ban from the NFL in 2020 for breaching the league’s substance abuse policy.
Pierce told the team that he was “just making smart decisions” after Teamer was waived.
