News Now: The Raiders are interested in…..

Charles Woodson is without a doubt one of the best Raiders defenders to ever wear the silver and black. Woodson was picked fourth overall by the Raiders in 1998, and he spent the first eight years of his career with the organization before returning for the final three seasons of his Hall of Fame career.

Woodson made the Pro Bowl five times and was named an All-Pro three times during his 11-year career with the Raiders. He still has a lot of affection for the franchise, and some would like to see him return to the Raiders in some capacity, and he doesn’t seem to mind either.

Woodson recently lauded interim head coach Antonio Pierce and how hard the Raiders are playing for him on social media, prompting a fan to urge that Woodson join the coaching staff. But, as he answered to the fan, Woodson stated that he would rather be a part of the ownership group:

Former Raiders players joining the Raiders ownership group has been a recurring topic in recent months. Of course, Tom Brady has long been linked to becoming a minority owner of the team, but various stumbling blocks have prevented a transaction from being concluded.

Someone like Woodson, who is adored and revered by Raiders fans and everyone associated with the franchise, would be a terrific addition. He certainly cares about the Raiders and wants to see them return to the top of the NFL, and he is prepared to go to any length to make that happen.

The cost of entering the ownership level is high, but Woodson wouldn’t bring it up unless he was serious about getting engaged and had the requisite funds, so this is something to keep an eye on moving forward.

One thing is certain: Pierce is revitalizing the franchise thus far. The players have been pleased with the atmosphere in the locker room as things have settled down and the Raiders have played much better in recent weeks.

At 5-5, the Raiders are right in the middle of the AFC playoff battle, and a postseason push would only thrill supporters even more, and Woodson would undoubtedly be just as excited as anyone.
