The Cincinnati Bengals made a few roster changes on Saturday ahead of their Week 12 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. After news surfaced that quarterback Joe Burrow sustained a season-ending injury during the Bengals’ loss to the Baltimore Ravens, the team needed to make personnel changes.
The Bengals officially placed Burrow on injured reserve following his wrist injury, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. They reinstated running back Chase Brown to the 53-man roster. In addition, quarterback A.J. McCarron was promoted to the active roster for the Bengals’ game against the Steelers.
McCarron, like Burrow, has won a title at the collegiate level. McCarron led Alabama to National Championships in 2012 and 2013.
Against the Steelers, McCarron will serve as Jake Browning’s backup. He’ll provide vital backup experience for a Bengals club that is still in the chase for the playoffs despite missing its greatest player.
