With Auburn on the docket for Saturday, two of Alabama football’s defensive starters are getting closer to returning. Jaylen Key and Deontae Lawson have both returned to the field, according to head coach Nick Saban.
“They both practiced quite a bit this week,” Saban stated on Wednesday. “Just see how they continue to progress.”
Key and Lawson both missed Saturday’s game against Chattanooga, as well as UA’s victory against Kentucky. They were both injured versus LSU.
Lawson, the Crimson Tide’s starting inside linebacker, suffered an ankle injury against the Tigers. He was not dressed for Saturday’s victory over the Mocs.
Key, Alabama’s starting safety, was dressed out before the game but did not take part in warmups or play in the game. In the LSU game, he injured his thigh while breaking up a pass.
The game between Alabama and Auburn is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn. The game will be broadcast on CBS.
