Their season appeared doomed from the start when Joe Burrow sustained a calf injury in training camp, with many pleading with him to stop playing through the ailment even if it meant missing the playoffs.

The former gunslinger stated on The Rich Eisen Show that Jake Browning is a much better quarterback than most people think.

He praised his performance as a replacement for Burrow on the road and against a division opponent, and praised him for remaining calm and poised against the elite defense of the Baltimore Ravens.

He also mentioned Browning being terrific in college, praising his pocket awareness and touch on the back shoulder.

Even still, the Bengals’ chances of making the playoffs appear slim at this time.

They presently reside at the bottom of the AFC North division, and without Burrow, they are no better than any of the three teams above them.
