Kyle Filipowski of Duke basketball left the court for the locker room during the end of the first half against Bucknell.
In the first quarter of Duke basketball’s Friday night home game versus Bucknell, with four minutes remaining, Blue Devil sophomore forward and current ACC Rookie of the Year Kyle Filipowski went to the ground on an offensive play. He seemed to be gripping his right leg in discomfort.
Head coach of Duke University Jon Scheyer crossed the floor to see how his star had fared. Stanley Borden and Neal Begovich, two walk-on players for the Blue Devils, assisted Filipowski get up and walk off the field and back into the locker room.
This season, Kyle Filipowski, who shoots 55.6 percent from the field, tops all Blue Devils in points (21.7 per game), rebounds (7.7 per game), and blocks (1.3 per game).
The status of the 7-footer is still unknown. In the last four minutes of the first half, he did not return to the floor or the bench.
UPDATE: Filipowski arrived on the floor one minute behind his teammates to warm up with the Blue Devils with four minutes remaining before the second half began. The second half began with him in the starting lineup.
In Cameron Indoor Stadium, the Blue Devils (2-1) led the visiting Bison (1-3) 44-29 at the break. Before heading into the locker room, Filipowski finished his 12-minute stint on the court with eight points and five rebounds.
The second Duke basketball squad under Jon Scheyer will play La Salle at home on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. ET.
