Leeds United are closing in on the signing of Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara.
That is according to The 4th Official, who report a £4 million deal is on the verge of being agreed as Leeds finally kick their summer transfer window into action.
Kamara would likely become Leeds’ second summer signing after an agreement was reached with Chelsea for the capture of Ethan Ampadu on Monday.
Ampadu has been cleared to undergo a medical at Leeds in the coming days after a £7 million + add-ons deal was struck between the two clubs, in what would be a significant coup.
Rangers star Kamara appears as though he could follow Ampadu swiftly to Elland Road, with Leeds finally addressing an area that was in desperate need of strengthening.
Leeds close to £4m Kamara signing
Leeds have already lost Marc Roca and Weston McKennie from last season’s first team midfield options and so reinforcements were desperately needed ahead of the new season.
It is also unclear whether Adam Forshaw will remain at Leeds with the offer of a new contract still yet to be accepted, while Tyler Adams continues to attract interest from the Premier League.
Both Ampadu and Kamara should prove to be excellent additions in the Championship, with the former an excellent anchor in front of the defence, and the latter a tidy link between midfield and attack.
Kamara lost his way a bit at Rangers last season but has proved to be an excellent player at Ibrox having made almost 200 appearances since his £50,000 move from Kilmarnock.
The 27-year-old is excellent in position and should slot in perfectly to the style of football Daniel Farke is trying to implement.
