The Detroit Lions announced on Saturday afternoon roster decisions ahead of their Week 11 home contest against the Chicago Bears It was announced that defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna and offensive lineman Connor Galvin were elevated from the team’s practice squad. Prior to Saturday, Detroit already had ruled out defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs and left guard Jonah Jackson.

Dan Campbell reiterated this week the team has a significant amount of trust placed in the members of the roster currently on the practice squad. Detroit has not had a significant amount of turnover compared to other regimes. The reason why: The coaching staff wants to feel comfortable that its players fully understand the scheme when a decision is made to elevate a player.

“We’ve got Brodric (Martin) and (Quinton) Bohanna.” “Those guys understand they have to earn their reps, and we tell them early in the week, ‘Man, you’ve got to earn it, and you’ll get an opportunity,” Campbell told reporters. “And if you show that you’re worthy, we’ll put you in the game.” So, sure, all of those guys on the vet squad are aware that they will have an opportunity, and the most of those guys have been here for the length.

“There’s a little turnover that happens,” Campbell added. “But, ultimately, we believe it is critical to have guys we trust who are familiar with our system.” We know what kind of people they are and what kind of teammates they are; they’re around them and have seen enough of them to have a trust level once they go and it’s time for them to help us.”
