The most recent Philadelphia Eagles report is that the team is interested in former Pro Bowl linebacker Anthony Barr. However, Barr will not be joining the Minnesota Vikings as a happy ever after.

In 2022, Eagles fans may know Barr as a Cowboys starter. The veteran is best known for his eight seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.

“The Eagles hosted LB Anthony Barr on a free agent visit today,” Mike Garafolo of NFL Network tweeted on November 13, 2023.

The Eagles received bad news shortly after NFL word leaked regarding Barr’s visit. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the linebacker intends to sign with the Vikings.

It was unknown how far Barr’s talks with Philadelphia were in Week 11. Given that Barr had spent the majority of his career with Minnesota, it was certainly difficult for Philadelphia to compete.

“With LB Jordan Hicks hurt, the Vikings are planning to re-sign four-time Pro-Bowl LB Anthony Barr, per league sources,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter said on November 13. “Barr spent eight seasons in Minnesota after becoming the Vikings first-round pick in 2014.”

The Eagles have placed starter linebacker Nakobe Dean on injured reserve as a result of their interest in Barr. Barr most recently recorded 58 tackles, four quarterback hits, and a sack in 14 appearances (ten starts) for Dallas in 2023.

Barr’s Pro Bowl career appears to be over. The Eagles were probably looking into whether the veteran may be useful as insurance.

The Eagles are considering a variety of roster adjustments ahead of their game against the Chiefs. Three veterans, including tight end Noah Togiai, worked out in Philadelphia. This occurred prior to Philly learning of Barr’s decision to join Minnesota.

out G Inside the Birds’ Andrew DiCecco claimed in a series of tweets on November 13: “Andrew Norwell, C Lecitus Smith, and TE Noah Togiai.” “Note: With TE Dallas Goedert sidelined, the team has Jack Stoll, Grant Calcaterra and Albert Okwuegbunam on the 53 and E.J. Jenkins on the practice squad.”

“The Commanders released Norwell, 32, in late July. Started 127/128 games with the Panthers, Jaguars, and Commanders. Smith, 25, was drafted in the sixth round by the Arizona Cardinals in 2022. Was released during cutdowns and spent time on the Texans practice squad earlier this month.”
