This is a look at the first-round order for the 2024 NFL Draft as of Week 11 of the 2023 NFL season, as well as each team’s top five needs. The order is determined by record, with schedule strength serving as the first tiebreaker (for a complete list of draft-order tiebreakers, go here). Keep in mind that in the order below, teams that would make the playoffs if the season ended today are denoted as PL (short for playoffs). The results of postseason play decide the selection order for playoff clubs.

Cardinals activate Kyler Murray - NBC Sports

The arrows represent movement since last week’s order.

The return of Kyler Murray provided a much-needed spark to the Cardinals’ offense on Sunday, but one of the league’s worst run defenses still allowed the Falcons 184 yards on the ground. Dante Stills, a sixth-round pick, is a keeper, but starters Kevin Strong and Leki Fotu are set to become free agents. Arizona needs more game changers up front.

Given his contract status, injured Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is unlikely to leave the team for at least one more season. However, GM Joe Schoen may be forced to draft a quarterback next April to provide a quality backup – or quick competition – for Jones.

The dismal play of Mac Jones appears to enhance the chances that the Patriots will be looking for a quarterback next season. Barring a huge reversal by Jones or a breakout by 2022 fourth-round pick Bailey Zappe, the Patriots might draft a quarterback in the top five for the third time in franchise history (Drew Bledsoe, No. 1 overall, 1993; Jim Plunkett, No. 1 overall, 1971).

Green Bay must determine whether to keep center Josh Myers and guard Jon Runyan as starters in 2024. The Packers may consider drafting a tackle with their first-round pick, which is expected to be their highest since 2006, but they will almost certainly draft one or two more linemen later on to battle for inside roles.

Tennessee acquired Andre Dillard to replace Taylor Lewan at left tackle and chose Nicholas Petit-Frere in the third round in 2022 to play right tackle, but neither has been a game changer. Furthermore, veteran Chris Hubbard will be a free agent, therefore I believe the Titans will select a tackle early in the draft.

Safeties Jordan Fuller and John Johnson III, who has been demoted to the bench, are set to become free agents at the end of the season. Although the Rams like young players Russ Yeast and Quentin Lake heading into 2024, the team should still look for extra depth in the draft.

Every week that the Falcons struggle on offense increases the likelihood that the franchise will draft a quarterback to lead the team in 2024 and beyond. Taylor Heinicke suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday’s loss to the Cardinals, giving recently benched Desmond Ridder another chance. With Atlanta on vacation, head coach Arthur Smith has yet to pick a starter for the team’s next game.
