With Bojan Bogdanovic and Isaiah Livers sidelined due to injuries, the Detroit Pistons find themselves a bit short-handed in the forward position. On Wednesday, they decided to address this issue by turning to a familiar face.
According to The Athletic, the Pistons have signed Kevin Knox to a one-year deal. Last season, Knox played 42 games for the Pistons, where he averaged 5.6 points and 2.6 rebounds. Furthermore, he shot 47% from the field and 37% from beyond the arc. In 21 games with the Trail Blazers, he averaged 8.5 points.
During last season’s trade deadline, the Pistons traded Knox to the Portland Trail Blazers in a four-team deal involving the Atlanta Hawks and Golden State Warriors. In the same transaction, Detroit sent Saddiq Bey to Atlanta, while Golden State sent James Wiseman to Detroit.
Currently, the Pistons rank as one of the top three-point shooting teams in the NBA, hitting 39% of their attempts from deep. With Knox demonstrating the ability to stretch the floor, his addition to the Pistons lineup is likely to be well-received.
Knox, a former Kentucky Wildcat, was selected as the ninth overall pick by the New York Knicks in the 2018 NBA draft.
