Leicester City appear to have suffered a major blow ahead of the new season after key defender Wesley Fofana suffered a serious injury during tonight’s friendly against Villarreal.
Fofana was left with what could be a broken ankle after being on the end of a scissor challenge from Villarreal forward Fernando Nino.
After lengthy treatment, Fofana was stretchered off to a standing ovation from the 17,000-strong crowd at the King Power Stadium.
Foxes quickly took to social media wish Fofana well, and condemn the challenge from Nino…
Andrew Davis: Dangerous scissor tackle a revenge tackle on Fofana because their player didn’t get a previous foul. That’s why scissor tackles are so dangerous, I actually thought these type of tackles are automatic reds cards.
James Ndalama: That scissor tackle was senseless, that was a revenge on fofana because their player didn’t get the foul
Josef Weiss: We should sue the club! Disgusting assault of Wez, let’s hope he has a speedy recovery
