GOOD NEWS:Leeds United confirm 51-goal striker’s signature on a day of new arrivals at Elland Road

Leeds United have completed the signing of Aberdeen teenager Lewis Pirie after a campaign of 51 goals for club and country in attack

Fifty-one-goal striker Lewis Pirie has signed a contract with Leeds United after Aberdeen reportedly accepted a bid of around £200,000 for the 16-year-old. Pirie will now link up with the Whites’ academy set-up at Thorp Arch before competing for minutes at under-18 and under-21 levels.

In December, when it became clear the youngster’s phenomenal record with club and country was only attracting more and more suitors, Aberdeen boss Jim Goodwin addressed Pirie’s situation. He said: “Young Lewis is a player I really like.

“I had a conversation with him recently as we were short of numbers on the Friday and brought him over to train with the first team. He is still only 15 and not 16 until January.

“He is a young, exciting prospect and I just hope he can see his long-term future here at Aberdeen. Fingers crossed Lewis, along with all the other good young ones who are attracting attention, can see the bigger picture that Aberdeen will give them the best opportunity of having a fantastic career
