The Philadelphia Eagles, in advance of their Week 7 home game against the Miami Dolphins, formally revealed a few roster changes. An outline
WR Julio Jones and CB Mekhi Garner were promoted from the practise squad for a brief period of time.
Note: Before being forced to be placed on waivers, players from the practise squad may be temporarily elevated to the active roster up to three times in a season. For Jones, this is his first elevation; for Garner, it is his second.
Let’s examine this information player by player.
On Sunday night, the future Hall of Famer is scheduled to make his Eagles debut. Considering that he only recently joined the squad, one would assume his position would be somewhat restricted. Having said that, perhaps he doesn’t require much practise to have an immediate influence. After A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, Jones and Olamide Zaccheaus could theoretically split snaps at wide receiver. It will be interesting to see how much early trust Jalen Hurts has in him.
Garner has been elevated for the second week in a row. With Justin Evans on injured reserve and Reed Blankenship out, the Eagles are thin at safety. Terrell Edmunds and Sydney Brown will start for Philadelphia in the back end. Garner, the third safety last week, saw action out of necessity. He might play that position once more or provide depth behind Josiah Scott, who was just re-signed.
