Although teams are not required to submit injury updates at this time of year, there are still ailments to watch on the NFL Injury Report 2023 as we prepare for the next regular season.

The following is a list of NFL players that are currently injured, along with their injury status.

ALLEN PARK: The Detroit Lions had a difficult day on Monday when recently acquired defensive back CJ Gardner Johnson suffered a right leg injury during practise. However, the franchise might take heart in the fact that a pair of other players’ health conditions look to be improving.

The Lions placed wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. on the NFI (non-football injury) list on Sunday, sparking suspicion about his health. Lions head coach Dan Campbell delivered an update to reporters before of Monday’s practise.

He had a little back issue right before he came here. It’s nothing major, but we knew we weren’t going to start him out at practice, so we just NFI’d him. But he’s improving,” Campbell told reporters. “We’re not in any hurry right now to try to get him back. We’ve got three more (days) and then a day off, and then we’ll kind of assess it here as it goes. But we’re not worried about it.”

After playing the last two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jones Jr. signed a one-year deal with the Lions earlier this April, returning to the place where he had the most productive stretch of his career. From 2016 to 2020, Jones Jr. played five seasons in Detroit, catching 289 passes for 4,296 yards and 36 touchdowns.

Campbell also provided an injury update on cornerback Emmanuel Moseley, who has yet to participate in the first few days of training camp.

“Hopefully by the end of this week, we’ll get him back in,” Campbell said.

Moseley, 27, is currently recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered during Week 5 last year while playing for the San Francisco 49ers. Recognizing his pre-injury talent and needing to bolster their secondary, the Lions signed Moseley to a one-year deal this past offseason.

On Sunday, Campbell said that Moseley will start on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list once he returns, and it will “probably be a little bit longer” than they desired.

“That’s really predicated on the work that was going,” Campbell said on Sunday. “He was progressing so fast. So we’ll just, we’re gonna put the brakes on a little bit. I don’t want to say setback, but it’ll be a little bit longer.”
