Despite Storm Babet wreaking havoc across the country, Nottingham Forest’s match against Luton Town is still slated to go ahead as planned.
The team is hopeful that Saturday’s Premier League match at the City Ground will not be cancelled due to inclement weather. However, they are actively monitoring the situation and remain in communication with local authorities and Nottinghamshire Police.
As a result of the continuing heavy rain, a number of places in Nottinghamshire have been flooded. Several county highways have been closed, causing travel disruptions, with some bus diversions in place.
Steve Cooper’s Reds host the Hatters in a 3pm kick-off on Saturday. The City Ground pitch was relaid and the drainage system improved during the summer, leaving Forest optimistic the game will go ahead.
Forest will be aiming to get back to winning ways against Luton. They went four games without a victory before the international break, with their 0-0 stalemate at Crystal Palace representing a second successive draw.
“They have players who can make a difference in the way they play,” Cooper said of the Hatters. “As always in the Premier League, it’s a game where everything needs to be at a really good level.
“We’ve got to focus on ourselves. Having got everyone back from international duty and not having your normal preparation, we have to make sure we quickly get back up to speed, there’s no excuses for that. We want to hit the ground running in the game and try to have the impact we want.”
