Moukoko has not appeared off the bench in any of Dortmund’s last three Bundesliga matches. The teenager made his debut back in December 2020 and looked like he was going to be the next big thing. He made history by becoming the youngest player to ever play in the Bundesliga, aged just 16 years and one day.
But things haven’t gone as planned, and he could now be on the move – and Wolves appear to be keeping an eye on the situation…
Wolves are considering a January loan move for Youssoufa Moukoko, according to 90min. Moukoko may possibly leave Dortmund in January.
Following the arrival of Niclas Fullkrug, the minutes have dried up for Moukoko, and the youngster could now push for an exit in the next transfer window.
His representatives are said to be exploring potential loan options.
Wolves are mentioned as being keen.
But there is competition in the form of Brentford, as well as Lazio, Fiorentina, Lens and Lyon.
It is suggested that Moukoko is keen to be playing regularly because he wants to make Germany’s final Euro 2024 squad next year.
Moukoko, who was born in Cameroon, has been compared to the famous Samuel Eto’o. “The similarities between Moukoko and the Eto’o we all grew to know at Barcelona and Inter Milan are striking – and we’re not just talking about their almost identical height,” the official Bundesliga website remarked of him earlier this year.
“They are both pure center-forwards who can always be counted on when the ball is played into them, scoring the majority of their goals from inside the penalty area.” But they’re also far more than your average fox in a box.”
Moukoko is unlikely to want the Wolves to relocate.
It would be a huge surprise if this relocation went through.
Moukoko is a fantastic young prospect, but with a major international tournament coming up, Wolves are unlikely to be able to provide him with the game time he requires.
Gary O’Neil is a great supporter of Matheus Cunha, and the Molineux manager also has Sasa Kalajdzic and Fabio Silva on his bench.
