Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood claims that owner Evangelos Marinakis is pressuring the club to make progress in the Premier League this season. The Reds finished 16th in their first season back in the Premier League, with a memorable victory over Arsenal at the City Ground.

They are now 13th in the Premier League after eight games this season and are making progress under Steve Cooper. They had just four points after eight league games last season, but now have nine courtesy to two wins and three draws.

They also lost six Premier League games at this point last season, but have only lost three league games this season, against Arsenal, Manchester United, and Manchester City. Forest are also looking stronger away from the City Ground, having recently defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Wood has played in all eight league matches so far this season, although he has only made one start, in their last match against Crystal Palace. And he says it would be “great” if they could finish in the top 10 come the end of the season.

“Our main aim is to just keep progressing,” he went on to say. “The owner is very concerned about that.” We’re just aiming to improve on last year because he wants the club to keep moving forward.

“More points, more goals scored, more clean sheets — that’s what we’ve discussed as a group.” If we can break into the top 10, it would be fantastic, but the essential thing is improvement.”
