While we all await for the next announcement, regarding a new signing, we have to accept that, as the transfer window approaches, there may be several departures.

Now these departures may be on a loan basis or permanent, depending on what plans the club has for those staff on the fringes of the first team squad.

Yesterday, the Official Site, confirmed that Elliot Thorpe has joined the League One side, Shrewsbury Town, on a season-long loan.

The former Tottenham Hotspur youngster, now 22-years-old, has struggled to make an impact at Kenilworth Road, making just six appearances since joining Luton Town two years ago.

Last season, his loan spell with Burton Albion was cut short due to Elliot not being given enough game time.

Hopefully, while with Shrewsbury Town, he will be given the opportunity to play more often and his game will progress, but, at 22-years-of-age, this season could be crucial for the youngster.Luton midfielder Thorpe joins Burton Albion on loan – The Lutonian

If he fails to make the desired progress, he could find himself moving on permanenly next season, especially if competition for midfield places remains as competitive as it currently is.

The consensus of opinion, on social media, is that it is a good move
