Forest have a star-studded academy and many view the Reds as one of the teams to look up to in terms of young players. Clarke has now been named as someone who is making big strides.

The youngster operates as a central midfielder and can also play on the right-hand side of midfield, showcasing his versatility when called upon for the under-18 ranks.

The Guardian have today released their Next Generation 2023 list, naming the best youngster at each Premier League club born between 1st September 2006 and 31st August 2007

Speaking about Clarke, he claimed in The Guardian: “The teenager arrived at Forest from Exeter as a 12-year-old and has continued to make progress. Last season he was part of an impressive pairing alongside George Hemmings, who decided to leave the club.

“Clarke has all the attributes to make him a fine central midfielder – he is very mobile, quick over short distances and comfortable on the ball. Furthermore, he will not shy away from a tackle, a decent treat for a central midfielder.”

Although it’s early days for the youngster just yet, he does seem like a very useful player to have on the books. He has made a few appearances this season and picked up a yellow card on the opening day against Liverpool.

Under the watchful eye of some quality coaches behind the scenes at the academy, he could really kick on. He will be buoyed by the opportunities that young players are getting with the under-21s and that will help his development

Clarke will need to stay grounded at Forest. Right now, however, all of the signs point to the central midfielder being one to watch at the City Ground for the future.
