NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports “Jets LT Mekhi Becton, who was carted off in serious pain, suffered a knee cap dislocation that popped back into place, sources say. No timeline yet.”

However ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports “Becton now is expected to be sidelined four to six weeks while also needing arthroscopic knee surgery to clean up damaged cartilage that he suffered during Sunday’s loss to Carolina, per source.”

According to NJ Advance Media’s Darryl Slater, who was in Charlotte for Sunday’s 19-14 loss to the Carolina Panthers, Becton went down with 1:25 left in the third quarter.

The Jets had just cut the Panthers’ lead to 16-8, on a 22-yard touchdown pass from Zach Wilson to Corey Davis, followed by a two-point conversion. But during the play, Becton got his right leg rolled up on. Trainers rushed out to help him. And he had to be helped off the field. He was later carted to the locker room, while covering his face with a towel. … The Jets badly need Becton to be healthy and effective this season, as Wilson’s blind-side protector. In 2020, a year before they drafted Wilson second overall, the Jets took Becton at No. 11.

Wilson was sacked six times in his NFL regular-season debut.

Adding insult to injury, Rapoport also reports “Jets DB Lamarcus Joyner, who exited the game with an elbow injury, suffered an apparent torn tendon in his arm that will require surgery, source said. Pending further tests, the injury likely knocks him out for the season.”
