Fred would be a shrewd bit of business and would bring bags of experience, having been at Manchester United for the past five years and racking up 32 caps for Brazil.

If Declan Rice does make his expected move to Arsenal, the 30-year-old midfielder would provide balance in the centre of the park and the fact he is left-footed would provide something different for the Hammers.

Although he isn’t getting younger, Fred still plays with an awful lot of passion and continues to get about the pitch, winning balls back and showing tireless enthusiasm for the game.

There is no doubt more options are needed in midfield ahead of the next season and a chance to sign a player of his quality and experience in the Premier League doesn’t come around too often.

If we do decide to push forward with a deal and bring him in, he would also link up well with the likes of Lucas Paqueta. It’ll be interesting to see if the club push forward with this one.
