Injury update:Norwich City manager exposes serious injury blow after impressive away win finals today

Norwich City now face a wait to determine whether top scorer Josh Sargent will be fit for the return of the Championship season.

The Canaries are due to resume their league campaign next Saturday (December 10) when they travel to face Swansea City, with Dean Smith’s side hoping to hit the ground running after the World Cup break.

But Smith has an injury concern over Sargent, who missed the World Cup last 16 tie between USA and the Netherlands with a right ankle sprain.

The 22-year-old over-extended his leg after standing on the ball and had to be substituted during USA’s 1-0 win against Iran on Tuesday, with the Norwich City man then having scans to determine the extent of the damage sustained.

He was considered a doubt for the last 16 game, although he was not ruled out by head coach Gregg Berhalter when he spoke to the media on Friday ahead of the clash

But Sargent was not involved yesterday (Saturday) as USA lost out 3-1, with Norwich now facing an anxious wait over his fitness and how long he may be out for.

Sargent is Norwich’s top scorer so far this season with nine goals in 20 appearances, although he did not score for USA at the World Cup in Qatar.
