The Cherries’ scheduled game versus the Seagulls was postponed; they could play this weekend.
After their scheduled match against Brighton was postponed due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, Bournemouth seems certain to resume their Premier League season this weekend at Newcastle.
The Cherries’ home game was postponed, along with the rest of the round of top-flight matches and games throughout the EFL, National League, and grassroots, as the nation entered a period of mourning following the passing of its longest-reigning monarch.
But given that the Queen’s burial is now set for Monday, September 19, there are also worries over the next games. Tens of thousands of police officers will need to be called in, perhaps from all around the nation, due to the logistics of the event, which will see leaders from around the world fly into London.
As a result, maintaining security at athletic events may cause unnecessary stress. It is known that a few games could be postponed, but it would be unexpected if Bournemouth’s trip to Tyneside was among them.
Because of this, interim manager Gary O’Neil will undoubtedly be preparing his team over the next several days with the idea that they will play again on Saturday. However, a number of wounds will have compromised his ability to prepare.
